BLACK PLAQUES

Southampton has celebrated Black History Month since 2005 and one of the features has been the recognition of people and moments that have had an impact on Black History in the city. This has come to be known as The Black Plaque.

The Black Plaques were designed by the late Gary Crook.

The first Black Plaque was awarded in 2011.
