About The Event

Who gets to shape how communities are portrayed?

An evening where those who live it, tell the story.

The theme of this year’s national Black History Month is “Honouring Our Communities” – and that’s the focus of our annual Black Stories Screening.

Join us for an evening celebrating real-life stories from the region’s African, Caribbean and Black British communities.

The event showcases Our Version Media’s work amplifying black voices and equipping people with digital media skills to tell their own authentic stories.

Watch up to ten short, made-by-mobile stories created around the theme, “Honouring Our Communities”. Each piece is created by individuals during Our Version Media’s Mobile Storytelling training, offering a first-hand view into their lives and communities.

These stories are the result of a month of learning – and a shift in who gets to shape the story.

Each mobile storyteller has learned to create, film and edit their own stories using a mobile phone.

Schedule

7.00pm – 7.45pm: Drinks Reception (networking, and meet the Our Version Media team and storytellers)

7.50pm: Black Community Stories Screening

Join us for an evening of real stories, by real people.
