What is Black History without Jazz ? Or Black History Month without Fund-raising?
We are excited to offer this unique Signed edition book by Southampton-based international artist Jonny Hannah to raise funds for Southampton Black History Month.
Hot Jazz Special captures the pure joy of jazz without the sound, bringing alive the groove and the musical greats that form such an important part of Black struggles and Black History.
Hot Jazz Special is the perfect unique gift – especially with Christmas coming – for anyone who loves jazz, and everyone who loves art and illustration. The 20 page book features Charlie Parker, Billie Holliday, Louis Armstrong and other jazz greats, a potted history, lyrics, writings, lists and nightspots that jump out in the spirit of jazz.
The dustcover opens out into a fullsize wall poster of Duke Ellington, and Hot Jazz Special comes complete with a screenprint poster “Better git it in your Soul” produced by Jonny specially for BHM2020, highlighting the great jazz musician and Black justice activist Charles Mingus.
You don’t need to ship it in from New York. We will deliver in Southampton or post to you beyond for £5.00.
Jonny Hannah is a Senior Lecturer at Solent University, and works as a commercial ilustrator world-wide, including for the New Yok Times and the Royal Mail. He has gifted the books to Black History Month, who retain all proceeds.
