The Ujamaa Stool Film Screening

This is a screening of Edgar Lushaju's film The Ujamaa Stool followed by a conversation on ujamaa, a socialist and developmental policy introduced in Tanzania by President Julius Nyerere in 1967 through the Arusha Declaration.

The conversation will look at ujamaa in the context of space identity and place making, in the physical and the sociological sense, looking at is as a co-opted way of living in a community, exploring its presence, its absence, its need and/or its redundancy.
